Who is Ashford J. Thomas

Ashford J. Thomas is a LA based actor originally from Greensboro N.C. and a graduate of Howard University.  While at Howard University Ashford majored in Theatre and minored in Communications – Television & Film.  In 2006 after his graduation, Mr. Thomas was offered a one-year apprenticeship at the Tony Award winning Children's Theatre of Minneapolis. At the conclusion of his apprenticeship, Mr. Thomas continued to act professionally in the twin cities and had the privilege to work in the Penumbra, Mixed Blood, and Park Square Theaters.

After working in the twin cities Mr. Thomas  relocated to Los Angeles California where he had the opportunity to premiere his critically acclaimed play, “Who Is Curtis Lee?” at the Met Theatre. “Who is Curtis Lee?”a coming of age story of a young man in the 1950’s rural south of Greensboro N.C. which  received rave reviews in the L.A. Times, L.A. weekly, etc, and gained Mr. Thomas membership into the Actor Studio Playwright division. Mr. Thomas work as a play write has been compared to the likes of August Wilson, which is a tremendous honor.

In 2015 Ashford became of the host of an online talk show entitled BlackHollywoodlive.com where he  interviewed Cedric The Entertainer, Tony Rock and Michael Colyer. Most recently Ashford created The Howton U Project which is a HBCU film program that allows HBCU students to have hands on experience on an actual film production.  The project is based on his web series called Howton U which Mr. Thomas wrote, directed, edited, and stars in. Howton U is a hilarious new series follows the comic misadventures of three freshmen at one of the nation's premiere HBCUs, Howton University.
